If you're here, you might be…
You don't have to figure this out alone.
Practice
When the matter is your family, you want counsel who does this work — not someone moonlighting from another field.
Uncontested, contested, collaborative. Strategy that protects your interests without scorching the earth.
Parenting plans, custody disputes, support modifications — always centered on what serves your children's stability.
Negotiating fair maintenance — short-term, long-term, or rehabilitative — based on the realities of your marriage and your future.
Houses, businesses, retirement accounts, debts. Clear-eyed analysis of what's separate, what's marital, and what's worth fighting for.
A trained family-law mediator option for couples who want to design their own outcome — outside the courtroom.
Life changes after the decree. Custody, support, and relocation modifications when circumstances genuinely shift.
Sarah Mira Larkspur, Esq.
Meet Sarah
I came to family law from a litigation background, but the cases that made me want to do this work weren't about strategy — they were about the people across the table. Quiet rooms. Hard decisions. Children at the center of it all.
The goal isn't to win. The goal is to get you to a place where you can move forward.
I take fewer clients than most firms. I'd rather be present for the people I'm representing than spread thin across cases I can't fully attend to. If we work together, you'll have my direct number, my real time, and a steady hand in your corner.
Most of my practice is for women navigating divorce and custody, but I work with anyone whose family circumstances I can serve well — including LGBTQ+ couples and parents who simply want to do this with care.
How I work
01
A confidential conversation. We talk about what brought you here and what outcome would actually feel right.
02
Whether negotiation, mediation, or litigation — I help you see the realistic options and what each one will ask of you.
03
Most family-law matters resolve outside court. Strong negotiation comes from preparation — not from posturing.
04
When court is the right answer, I'll be ready — and prepared to represent you with conviction and composure.
From clients
"Sarah didn't just represent me — she helped me think clearly during the worst year of my life. I always knew what was happening and why."
"I came in expecting a fight and left with a parenting plan we both signed. Sarah found a path my ex-spouse and I could actually walk together — for our kids."
"She was honest about what was realistic and steady when I wasn't. The settlement we ended with was fairer than I'd dared to hope for."
Fee transparency
Family law is famous for opaque billing. I'd rather you walk in knowing what to expect.

FAQ
Uncontested divorces can resolve in 3–6 months. Contested matters typically take 9–18 months, and complex cases involving high-asset division or custody disputes can run longer.
In most cases, no — most matters resolve through negotiation or mediation. Even when court is necessary, the trial itself is rarely the central event. Settlement at the courthouse door is common.
[State] courts use a "best interests of the child" standard, weighing factors like stability, each parent's relationship with the child, and (in older children) the child's own preference. Most parents reach agreement before a court has to decide.
More often than people assume. I offer flat-fee options for mediation and uncontested matters, and sliding-scale rates for clients in genuine financial hardship. We'll discuss this openly at the consultation.
Mediation is a structured negotiation with a neutral mediator, designed to help couples reach their own agreement instead of litigating. It works well when both spouses are willing to talk in good faith — and is much faster, more private, and far less expensive than court.
This is one of the hardest questions and one of the most important. I work with a small group of trusted child therapists who specialize in family transitions, and I'm happy to make a referral as part of our planning. The goal isn't a perfect script — it's a steady, honest conversation that protects your child's sense of security.
Every conversation is held in confidence. There's no obligation, no pressure — just a chance to think clearly with someone in your corner.
